We believe every small business deserves access to professional-grade tools without complexity or a price tag. That's why GeraCode runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is ever uploaded anywhere.
Every GeraCode tool uses client-side processing. That means no data you enter (barcode content, product numbers, QR text) is ever sent to a server. Processing happens entirely on your own device — computer, tablet, or phone.
We use well-established, widely-adopted libraries: barcodes are generated with JsBarcode, and QR codes with the QRCode library for Node.js. EAN-13/EAN-8 check-digit calculations follow the standard modulo-10 algorithm used internationally.
Every tool is covered by an automated test suite validating conformance with the relevant official specifications — from the EAN check-digit algorithm to QR code error-correction handling. Codes generated by GeraCode can be validated by any standard barcode or QR reader.
All content published on GeraCode — explanations, FAQs, usage guides, and technical references — is written based on official, verifiable sources: GS1 specifications for EAN/UPC/GTIN standards, and the ISO/IEC standards applicable to 1D and 2D barcodes.

GeraCode started in Brazil as an internal tool for local shopkeepers who needed to generate barcodes quickly, without expensive software or ad-choked, tracker-laden websites. After it proved useful to thousands of small merchants, we opened it up for free — and are now extending the same tools to sellers outside Brazil, adapting to the standards used internationally (UPC-A alongside EAN-13, GS1's global numbering system) while keeping the two commitments we consider non-negotiable: privacy by design (local processing) and technical accuracy against official standards.
How the tools work is auditable by anyone: open your browser's DevTools (F12), go to the "Network" tab, and confirm that no request is made to any external server while a code is generated. The only network activity is loading the page itself, static assets, and the ads that keep the project free.

GeraCode is free for every user, with no paid plan, subscription, usage limit, or "premium" tier. The project is sustained by ads shown on the tool pages, always in clearly marked areas and never mixed into the generated result (so there's no confusion between your code and sponsored content).
Ads are served by established ad networks and follow standard transparency practices: no banners disguised as tool buttons, no intrusive pop-ups, no hidden charges. You're free to use an ad blocker — the tools keep working normally either way.
We collect aggregated, anonymized usage metrics (page visited, engagement time, most-used tool) through Google Analytics 4, enabled by default under legitimate interest — with a right to object at any time via the cookie banner — as described in our Privacy Policy. No data you enter into any tool (codes, values, text) is ever collected — that's guaranteed by the client-side architecture itself.
